Killineer is a small reservoir to the west of the Drogheda-Dunleer road two miles from Drogheda, stocked with brown trout. It is fly fishing only, and there is a bag limit of two trout. This is a walking tour of Drogheda town centre, which can be undertaken by visitors, using a leaflet, which is available at the Tourist Information Office, and following the brown route signs. There are 18 places of interest highlighted on the route.

St. Laurence's Gate, which led to the Friary of St Laurence, is widely regarded as one of the finest of its kind in Europe. It consists of two lofty circular towers, connected together by a wall, in which there is an archway. Visitors can appreciate the spectacular dimensions of the mediaeval walls south of the gate at Featherbed Lane.

Beaulieu Demesne was formed in 1169 by the Blessed Oliver branch of the Plunkett family.
Following the 1641 / 42 siege of Drogheda ownership changed to Sir Henry Tichbourne Marshal of all Ireland and defender of Drogheda during the siege.
Tichbourne his son and Grandson constructed the present house. The current owner is tenth descendant of Sir Henry Tichbourne.
The Dutch style is unique to Ireland and thought to be one of the very first unfortified houses constructed in Ireland.
For a house of this age to survive in a virtually unchanged state is unique and therefore represents a true national treasure of Irish Heritage.

Beaulieu is situated 2.50km East (towards the coast) from Drogheda, on the North bank of the River Boyne, between the R166 Termonfeckin
and R 167 Baltray Roads.

Millmount Museum and Martello Tower are located at Millmount in the centre of Drogheda , County Louth overlooking the historic river Boyne . The area is rich in heritage dating back over 3,000 years while the town itself is over 800 years old .

It is the oldest surviving man made structure in the town with a dramatic history and many stories to tell.Young or old, what ever your interests, you will enjoy a warm welcome and a great day out.

Mellifont was the parent house in Ireland of the Cistercian Order, one of the most successful of the new monastic orders that spread across Europe in the 11th, 12th and early 13th centuries. It was founded in 1142 by no less a personage than St Malachy of Armagh who brought a group of monks with him from Clairvaux, one of the most famous Cistercian houses in France. The monastery was laid out in traditional style with a church and domestic buildings ranged around a rectangular cloister (for further details, see Stalley 1987, 248 and index). The Lavabo stood within the cloister garth and the scale of its late Romanesque architecture hints at the grace of the other monastic buildings that once stood here. While lavabos were a regular features of monastic cloisters, nothing like this structure can be found anywhere else in Ireland. Mellifont was one the most influential monasteries during its 400 year history but it along with most others in Britian and Ireland was dissolved in 1538-39 by order of King Henry VIII.

Monasterboice.
There are no fewer than three Celtic crosses on the site and a round tower, to say nothing of one of the oldest of all churches in Ireland.
